Sunburn and CBD
-
Sunburn doesn't just harm your skin, it can also negatively impact your skin's DNA, potentially causing skin cancers. It seems that topical Nano-CBD could significantly lessen this DNA damage, though I'm still in search of the specific study to back this up!
Is it possible for CBD oil to guard against sun-induced harm? Scientists have tested this on a sensitive skin area with unexpectedly promising results.
Promising discoveries are on the horizon as experts seek innovative ways to shield skin from solar harm. A recent investigation by a renowned medical and health sciences university found that cannabidiol, or CBD, a compound found in cannabis, could be a novel solution.
During the research, 19 subjects applied nano-CBD, a variant of CBD processed into minuscule particles for better skin absorption, to a patch of skin on their buttocks over a fortnight. After two weeks, the treated skin area was exposed to triple the amount of UV radiation that would typically cause harm. The area was then inspected for burns the following day.
The findings indicated that the skin treated with CBD showed less redness for 21% of the participants compared to untreated skin, according to a professor and chair of dermatology at the aforementioned university. Additionally, half of the individuals who used CBD showed no DNA damage from the UV exposure.
