I'm constantly questioning myself about pruning fan leaves. I have a plant which was planted about three and a half weeks ago. It appears to be thriving with numerous large fan leaves. Should I start cutting back some of the larger, lower leaves at this stage of growth or should I allow them to keep developing?

      Subject of enduring discussion...

I remove foliage as needed. If it hinders branch growth, I eliminate it. Fresh growth comes rapidly, particularly in juvenile plants.

Taking away foliage is a gentle stressor that allows light to penetrate further into the plant's cover. Look beneath a leaf. If it obstructs light reaching the lower growth, remove it.

I educate the plant from an early stage. Leaf removal forms part of this process. This refers to a seedling that's approximately a month old.

The soft yellow hue could potentially be conveying some information, especially as you continue to remove tiny solar panels from it, don't you think?

Should I let it keep growing without trimming the fan leaves at this stage?
